Laptop on a bright desk showing a virtual telehealth consultation

We know that taking the first step can feel daunting. Maybe you have never had a virtual consultation before, or perhaps you are not sure if telehealth can really help with the situation you are experiencing. It is completely normal to feel this way.

That is why we want to explain exactly how a consultation with BehaCare works so you can arrive prepared, calm, and ready to make the most of every minute.

Important fact: Multiple studies have shown that telehealth consultations for behavioral health are equally effective as in-person visits. The advantage is that you can access them from anywhere in the United States, without travel or wait times.

Before the consultation

1. Schedule your appointment

Booking your consultation is very simple. You can do it in three ways:

  • Online: through our appointment system on the website (click the "Book your free consultation" button)
  • Via WhatsApp: message us and we will help you find the ideal time
  • By email: send a message to contact@behacare.com

The first consultation is free and lasts 15 minutes. It is an opportunity to get to know each other, understand your situation, and determine how we can help you.

2. Prepare your space

To make the most of your consultation, we recommend:

  • Find a quiet place where you can talk without interruptions
  • Make sure you have a good internet connection β€” stable Wi-Fi is ideal
  • Use a device with a camera and microphone: computer, tablet, or phone
  • Have pen and paper handy to jot down recommendations

3. Prepare your information

You do not need to have everything perfectly organized, but these details help us better understand your situation:

  • Your loved one's diagnosis (if available)
  • Current medications
  • Behaviors that concern you or that have changed recently
  • Specific questions you would like to ask
  • Your relationship with the person (son/daughter, spouse, professional caregiver)

Don't worry: You do not need a formal diagnosis to schedule a consultation. Many families contact us precisely because they do not know what is happening and need guidance. That is what we are here for.

During the consultation

Your first consultation with BehaCare follows a clear but flexible structure, adapted to your needs:

1

Welcome and introduction (5 min)

We introduce ourselves, explain how the session works, and answer any technical questions about the platform. We want you to feel comfortable from the very first moment.

2

Your story (10-15 min)

We listen to you. Tell us about the situation you are living: what changes you have noticed, what behaviors concern you, how you feel as a caregiver. There are no right or wrong answers. This is your opportunity to speak openly with a professional who understands.

3

Initial assessment (5-10 min)

Our specialist will ask you specific questions to better understand the picture: behavior patterns, routines, relevant medical history. This allows us to identify the key factors and design a personalized approach.

4

Guidance and next steps (5-10 min)

We share our initial observations, answer your questions, and explain the available support options. If you decide to continue, we design a care plan tailored to your family.

After the consultation

At the end of the session, you will receive:

  • A summary of what was discussed and the initial recommendations
  • Practical resources you can start applying right away
  • A clear plan for next steps if you decide to continue with our support
  • Direct access to our team via WhatsApp for any questions between sessions

Frequently asked questions

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes, completely. The first 15-minute consultation has no cost and no commitment. It is an opportunity to get to know each other and evaluate if our services are right for your situation.

Does my loved one need to be present?

Not necessarily. Many of our consultations are with the caregiver or family member directly. However, if it is possible and appropriate to include the person with dementia in a session, it can be very useful for our assessment.

What if I'm not good with technology?

Don't worry. Our system is very simple: we send you a link and you just have to click it. You do not need to download anything or create any accounts. If you have any difficulty, we will guide you by phone or WhatsApp before the session.

Do you also provide care in Spanish?

Yes. Our team is bilingual and we offer care in both English and Spanish. You choose the language you feel most comfortable with.

How frequent are follow-up sessions?

It depends on each case. We generally recommend weekly or biweekly sessions at the beginning, and then we gradually space them out as your family gains more tools. The plan is always adapted to your needs and availability.

The hardest step is the first one. After that, every session is an opportunity to learn, grow, and feel less alone on this journey.

Take the first step today

It does not matter what stage you are at, it does not matter if you do not have a clear diagnosis, it does not matter if you feel your situation is "too complicated." We are here to listen.

Our first consultation is free, no commitment, and it can be the beginning of a path with more clarity, more tools, and less loneliness.
